Walking stick with a hand-carved horn Boxer's head pommel, fitted to an ebonized shaft with a white metal collar and suspension ring. The carving is the reason this one stops you. The neck is rendered in a spiral twist, the jowls and flews are fully modeled, and the stippled nostrils read clearly even in your hand. Horn takes detail differently than wood or bone, and the warmth of the patina here is what decades of handling produces. The Boxer was a newly recognized breed in England around 1900, which places this piece at an interesting cultural moment for the type. The collar has no visible hallmarks but retains its original suspension ring for a wrist cord or tassel.
The cane is in good antique condition overall. The horn pommel is intact with no cracks, chips, or losses to the carving. The surface has developed a warm amber-brown patina consistent with age and honest use. The carved detail is crisp across the face, ears, and twisted neck. The ebonized shaft is straight and sound, with light surface wear along the length and minor scuffs consistent with use and age. The white metal collar shows tarnish and surface pitting consistent with age but is structurally sound and secure. The suspension ring is present and intact. The white metal ferrule at the tip is present and shows wear at the contact point, as expected.

All antique and vintage items are shipped from our warehouse in Bluffdale, Utah. Each piece is carefully packed by hand using archival materials and custom crating when necessary.
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the size and weight of the item. Local pickup is available at the AMD Warehouse.
All sales of antique and vintage items are final due to their unique, one-of-a-kind nature. Illuminé candles and The Collector's Guide may be returned within 14 days of delivery if unopened and in original condition.
