A beautifully produced and visually rich exploration of the lesser-known artists of the Impressionist movement, Unknown Impressionists highlights the quiet but powerful contributions made by figures often overlooked in the traditional art historical canon. Written by renowned British art historian Kathleen Adler, this book offers a thoughtful lens on the broader network of painters working in the Impressionist style—many outside Paris, many outside the spotlight—capturing the movement's full depth and diversity.
Published by Phaidon, known for their exceptional art volumes, this edition features striking full-color plates throughout and a moody, atmospheric cover that echoes the industrial landscapes explored inside. Adler brings her curatorial insight to bear, uncovering names and works that deserve renewed attention in both scholarship and collecting.
The original dust jacket is present and in very good condition, an uncommon find for a volume of this age. The cloth boards are clean with no significant shelf wear. Internally, the pages are bright and unmarked throughout. A very good to near fine copy overall.
