A handsome Towle menorah with nine candle cups, executed in a fluid sculptural form that pulls the gilt cups out of a swept silverplate body rising from a freely modeled base. The contrast between the bright vermeil cups and the rippled silver body gives the piece real presence, and the asymmetrical placement of the shamash, raised at the right shoulder, is a thoughtful touch. A well-made Judaica piece from a serious American maker.
