A tall three-tier stand in solid walnut, Continental in origin and dating to the turn of the twentieth century. The square graduated shelves are supported by ringed and turned baluster columns, and the aprons carry the notched and chip-carved geometric ornament that defined late Aesthetic Movement cabinetwork. The shaped skirts and carved sledge feet give the piece real presence for its footprint. The underside shows honest slotted-screw construction consistent with the period. A functional and sculptural stand for plants, books, or a lamp, equally at home in a library corner or beside a reading chair.
Structurally sound and sturdy on all four feet. The top shelf shows scattered white water spotting and finish marks across the surface, visible in the photos and not polished out. Expected wear, nicks, and darkening to edges and feet consistent with age and use. No breaks or losses noted to the carved ornament. Finish is original and uncleaned. Sold as a working, honest example, not a refinished one.
