Add a true conversation piece to your shelves with The Romany Rye by George Borrow, a beloved classic of roaming, roadside encounters, and vivid character sketches, published in the famous Everyman’s Library series (Fiction, No. 120) by J. M. Dent and E. P. Dutton. This copy is especially collectible because it is not the plain standard binding. It was rebound or issued as a stunning school prize in rich red leather with elegant gilt detailing and the Holyrood School, Bognor Regis crest stamped in gold on the front cover, plus beautiful marbled endpapers and marbled page edges that give it that luxury, old world feel. Inside you still get the iconic Everyman’s decorative title pages that make early twentieth century books so charming. Even better, it has a real piece of history with the original award label showing it was given as a Progress Prize at Holyrood School, dated Christmas 1933, which makes it feel personal and one of a kind in presentation. A perfect pick for collectors of classic fiction, Everyman’s Library enthusiasts, and anyone building a warm, elevated library aesthetic with true antique character.
