This is a footed serving compote, and the first honest and interesting thing about it is the pattern name printed right into the mark on the underside: NEY. Boch Frères Keramis named their transfer patterns, and this green NEY pattern is a Louis XVI revival design, delicate laurel garlands and tasseled swags in soft green on a bright white ground. The shape is a compotier sur pied, a raised dish meant to hold fruit or sweets as a centerpiece. It stands about 5 inches tall on a clean pedestal foot, with the garland repeating around the bowl and again around the base.

Condition

Very good antique condition. The glaze is bright and intact across the bowl, pedestal, and foot, with no chips, cracks, or hairlines found at the rim, the bowl edge, the stem, or the foot rim. The green transfer decoration is crisp and complete, with strong color and no significant fading. The well of the bowl shows light scattered speckling and a few small dark specks in the glaze, consistent with age and normal for antique faience. The printed mark on the underside is clear and undisturbed. No restoration or repair found.

The maker mark is independently verifiable from the underside stamp. The NEY pattern name is printed as part of that mark. The circa 1900 date is a conservative estimate based on the mark format and construction, not a documented date; the piece is comfortably antique on that basis.
