A handsome 1886 bound volume of The Quiver, the well-known Victorian illustrated magazine for Sunday and general reading, published by Cassell & Company. This is Volume XXI, presented in a classic half leather binding with marbled boards, gilt spine rules, and a red spine label. It has the scale and presence collectors want, and the marbled paper gives it strong shelf appeal.
The Quiver was created for the late Victorian family home, blending religious reading, essays, stories, and illustration in one substantial annual volume. This copy stands out for its decorative binding and engraved visual content, making it appealing both as a readable period piece and as a displayable antique book.
Half leather binding with marbled boards. General wear to the spine and light rubbing at edges and corners, all consistent with age and handling over nearly 140 years. Foxing and scattered spotting visible to some pages, as shown in the photographs. No loose or missing pages noted and nothing appears detached. The gilt spine titling remains legible and the red spine label is intact. A solid, attractive Victorian volume that presents well on the shelf.
