A charming and highly displayable Portuguese Catholic devotional in miniature format, issued circa 1926 for boys preparing for First Communion. What makes this copy stand out immediately is the presentation: a pictorial front cover with a devotional scene, bright gilt page edges, and an ornate metal clasp that gives it the feel of a true keepsake rather than an ordinary prayer book. At just 4.25 inches tall, it has the intimacy and presence collectors want in a miniature religious book.

Titled Vinde a mim!, this devotional was intended especially for children preparing for their first reception of the Eucharist. The text reflects the devotional life and religious instruction given to Catholic children in the early 20th century, and the edition statement shows it was widely used in its day. This example is especially appealing for collectors of miniature books, Catholic material, and decorative bindings because it combines devotional subject matter with a compact, giftable format and handsome period details. A lovely piece for collectors of religious books, miniature bindings, and early 20th century devotional objects.

Condition

A very attractive miniature devotional in good antique condition. The metal clasp is present and functional, and the gilt page edges retain a strong, warm shine. There is rubbing and wear to the spine ends and corners, with visible wear and minor loss concentrated at the spine extremities. The back cover shows light spotting and surface wear from age and handling. Pages are age toned throughout, as expected for a book of this period, with general signs of use consistent with a small devotional meant to be carried and read regularly. Overall, the book presents beautifully with strong decorative appeal and is ready for display.
