Red stripes across charcoal, which is the pattern language of a working blanket rather than a decorative one. Camp stripes were how you told your blanket apart from the next one in a bunkhouse.

Baron Woolen Mills ran out of Brigham City, Utah, turning out wool goods built for ranches, cabins, and high-desert winters. This one dates to the mill's 1950s to 1970s output and still carries its original satin label. The mill has since closed, which is most of why these circulate the way they do now.

The wool has felted slightly with age into a texture that is softer than the weight suggests. At 44 by 64 inches it is a throw rather than a bed blanket: a sofa, an armchair, or a layer folded across the foot of a bed. Not every piece worth keeping came off a ship.

Good vintage condition with expected signs of age and use.

There are small areas of thinning, a few minor nicks, and wear along the edges, all consistent with a mid-century wool blanket that was actually used. There are no major stains and no large holes.

The wool remains soft with good loft. The original satin tag is present with some fraying to its edges. The overall structure is strong.

Wool of this age should be dry cleaned or hand handled with care rather than machine washed.
