This copy is especially eye-catching for decorative collectors: it is bound in rich brown tooled leather with raised spine bands, ornate floral detailing, and gilt accents that give it that classic old world library look. The gilt page edges add a warm glow on the shelf, and the book includes the dedication leaf to Samuel Rogers, dated May 19, 1817, a wonderful period detail that connects the work to Moore’s real literary circle. The title page is absent. The antique leather binding shows honest age throughout: rubbing and scuffing to both boards, noticeable wear at the corners and outer edges, and general surface wear consistent with a book that has been handled over many decades. The spine is present and intact, with its raised bands and stamped titling still legible, though the joints and extremities show wear. The gilt page edges are dulled and rubbed in areas but remain attractive and contribute to the book's warmth on the shelf.
Interior pages show age toning throughout, with scattered foxing and spotting, heavier on some leaves than others. The text is fully readable. Despite its condition, the book presents well as a collectible and decorative antique volume and the dedication leaf is intact and legible.
