This Korean brass hot pot, known as a Jeongol vessel, was traditionally used for charcoal heated communal dining. The raised central chimney once held hot coals, keeping broth gently simmering at the table while guests gathered around.
Crafted from solid brass with riveted loop handles and a pierced, engraved lid, it carries a warm golden tone and natural patina that reflect age and authentic use. The interior darkening is consistent with its original function and adds to its character.
Today, it makes a striking statement styled as a centerpiece, or sculptural accent in layered interiors.
Condition: Mid 20th century. Solid brass construction. Surface patina throughout consistent with age and use. Interior shows charcoal darkening and heat staining from original function. Minor oxidation visible at handle joins. Light surface scratching and tonal variation consistent with vintage brass. Structurally sound with no major dents or separations. Presents beautifully with age-appropriate character.
