7.5" H x 11.5" W x 8.5" D
This antique Anglo-Indian keepsake box, crafted from richly grained rosewood, dates back to the late 19th or early 20th century. Originally designed as a secure strongbox during British colonial India, it features a distinctive sloped pyramid lid and detailed hand-cut brass fittings, each carefully riveted and aged to a warm patina. Once used to protect important documents and treasures, it now makes a charming storage box. Inside, a divided compartment offers ideal space for jewelry, letters, or small keepsakes. The brass mounts and flame-like designs highlight a unique blend of Eastern and European craftsmanship typical of Anglo-Indian art.
Condition: In good antique condition with age-appropriate wear. The wood shows natural shrinkage cracks and surface marks consistent with age and use. The brass mounts have developed a rich, even patina and are securely attached. The original lock remains in place but the key is missing. Interior surfaces show expected wear from age, including small separations and evidence of past use. The box is structurally sound and displays beautifully. *Missing the key*
