This 1912 edition of Highways and Byways in Sussex by E. V. Lucas is a charming Edwardian travel book that explores the towns, countryside, and history of Sussex with illustrations by Frederick L. Griggs. Published by Macmillan, it combines local lore, scenic writing, and topographical interest in a format that remains highly appealing to collectors of English travel and regional history.

Condition

The red leather boards are generally well-preserved, with minor scuffing or rubbing at the corners and along the spine edges. The gilt tooling and Royal Drawing Society crest remain bright and clear, with slight wear noticeable on the raised bands where handling is most frequent. Internally, the pages are clean with light toning typical of the period and occasional minor foxing near the illustrated plates. The hinges appear sound and the binding is structurally stable. A fine and visually appealing copy of a well-regarded Edwardian travel title in an uncommonly attractive presentation binding.
