Attributed to George Stokes and issued by the Religious Tract Society in London, this copy bears a stated "New Edition" notice but no printed date on the title page. Based on the publisher's addresses at Paternoster Row, St. Paul's Churchyard, and Piccadilly, along with a dated presentation label inside, the volume was issued no later than 1892 and most likely sometime between the 1870s and the early 1890s. It belongs to a well-established tradition of Protestant publishing aimed at general readers, moral instruction, and the kind of prize-book distribution that filled Victorian Sunday schools across Britain and beyond.

The binding is a beautiful example of late Victorian decorative cloth in deep burgundy, with a repeating blind-stamped geometric pattern across the boards and confident gilt titling on both the spine and the front cover. The publisher's monogram sits at the base of the spine. All edges are fully gilt and still bright, which gives the book a jewel-like quality when closed on a shelf. Inside, engraved plates include a portrait frontispiece of Queen Mary and historical scenes such as the burning of Ridley and Latimer.
