A petite Louis XVI revival picture frame in gilt brass, French, made during the Belle Époque when Parisian taste returned wholesale to the neoclassical vocabulary of the 1770s and 1780s. The crest is the reason to look twice. A pierced tied ribbon and bow sits centered between floral swags, framed below by a beaded border and a rais-de-coeur molding around the picture opening. The folding easel back works on a tabletop, and the hanging ring at the top means it works equally well on a wall.
The frame is in good antique condition with honest age-appropriate wear. The gilt brass surface shows oxidation and patina across the entire frame, with the original gilding well preserved on the front and crest. The pierced ribbon and bow crest is intact with no losses to the floral swags or the central bow. The beaded border and the rais-de-coeur molding around the picture opening are crisp and complete. The back plate shows expected discoloration and a few small surface marks consistent with age and handling. The folding easel back is present and functions correctly. The hanging ring at the top is intact. No glass or backing board is present. The frame is ready to be fitted with glass and a backing of your choice.

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the size and weight of the item. Local pickup is available at the AMD Warehouse.
