A French brass tension picture frame with a stamped bow-and-ribbon crest, beveled glass panel, and original easel back. The tension format is the whole point of this design — the brass mount grips the glass at the top and bottom rail so a photograph slots in against the brass back with the glass face holding it in place, no backing board, no mat, nothing between the image and the eye. The bow crest with its center heart motif and flanking ribbon scrolls is Louis XVI Revival in style, a decorative vocabulary that French brass manufacturers carried well into the 20th century. The piece retains its original ball feet and hanging ring and can stand on a dressing table or hang flat on a wall.
The frame is in good vintage condition. The brass mount has a warm patina consistent with age. The stamped bow-and-ribbon crest is intact with no losses. The easel strut is present and functions correctly, holding the frame at a stable angle. The hanging ring below the crest is intact. The ball feet are all present. The beveled plate glass has minor chips to the beveled edges on the sides, consistent with age and handling. These chips are confined to the angled faceted perimeter and do not affect the flat display face of the glass. The green tint visible in the beveled edges is characteristic of period plate glass and is original to the piece.

All antique and vintage items are shipped from our warehouse in Bluffdale, Utah. Each piece is carefully packed by hand using archival materials and custom crating when necessary.
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the size and weight of the item. Local pickup is available at the AMD Warehouse.
All sales of antique and vintage items are final due to their unique, one-of-a-kind nature. Illuminé candles and The Collector's Guide may be returned within 14 days of delivery if unopened and in original condition.
If your piece arrives damaged, please photograph the damage immediately (including packaging), contact us within 48 hours at austynmariedesign@gmail.com, and do not discard any packaging.
