Victorian Scottish Tartanware Sliding Stamp Box, c. 1860–1890

Victorian Scottish tartanware sliding stamp box, late 19th century, made to hold loose postage stamps at the desk or in the pocket. Lightweight wood wrapped in tartan-printed paper under a clear varnish, in a green and red sett, with a pull-out drawer opened by a thumb notch. The blank cartouche on the front was intended for a monogram or retailer label and remains unmarked. Tartanware of this kind was produced in Scotland during the Victorian tartan revival and is collected today for desk and shelf styling.
Good antique condition consistent with age and use. The exterior shows surface wear, small scratches, and light rubbing to the varnished tartan finish, with visible craquelure to the varnish typical of Victorian tartanware. The wooden drawer slides smoothly and shows expected wear to the interior. No chips or structural damage observed. The cartouche remains blank. Shipping & Returns
All antique and vintage items are shipped from our warehouse in Bluffdale, Utah. Each piece is carefully packed by hand using archival materials and custom crating when necessary.
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the size and weight of the item. Local pickup is available at the AMD Warehouse.
Furniture is the exception. Because of size and weight, furniture shipping is quoted separately rather than calculated at checkout. Send a DM on Instagram or email austynmariedesign@gmail.com for a quote, or arrange your own shipping from the warehouse.
All sales of antique and vintage items are final due to their unique, one-of-a-kind nature. Illuminé candles and The Collector's Guide may be returned within 14 days of delivery if unopened and in original condition.
If your piece arrives damaged, please photograph the damage immediately (including packaging), contact us within 48 hours at austynmariedesign@gmail.com, and do not discard any packaging.
