A narrow, domed-lid box banded in alternating tones of rosewood, with two padded compartments lined in pale blue silk. The long, shallow proportions are those of a glove box, though boxes of this shape were also used for jewelry and ribbons. The bands run in vertical stripes down the sides, then turn into a checkerboard across the curve of the lid.

Antique condition consistent with age. The box has no key. The lock is present but its function can't be tested without one. The lid sits properly and the hinges are sound and work smoothly. The veneer is tight with no lifting that I can find to the sides, ends, or domed lid. The polished surface shows light surface wear and small scratches consistent with age and handling.

The underside has heavy loss to its original covering, leaving bare wood with scratches and adhesive residue, and a small rectangular patch where something was once attached. The pale blue silk lining is intact with no tears, with light spotting and soiling consistent with age. There are no labels, marks, or inscriptions.
