Small Vintage English Silverplate Gallery Tray
Small Vintage English Silverplate Gallery Tray
Couldn't load pickup availability
A vintage English silverplate gallery tray by Barker Ellis of Birmingham, oval in form with a pierced quatrefoil and crosslet gallery running the full perimeter. The floor carries machine-engraved foliate scrollwork framing a plain central cartouche, a combination that was standard for quality English EPNS production of the interwar period. Barker Ellis was a respected Birmingham silverplating house and their mark is a genuine provenance detail, not just a country stamp.
The tray is in good vintage condition with honest age-appropriate wear. The silverplate is intact across the floor and the majority of the surface. The gallery retains its form with no bending or distortion to the pierced border. Natural patina and light wear to the plate at the corners and rim edges, consistent with age and use. No wear-through to base metal. The engraved decoration on the floor is crisp and fully legible. The underside shows the brushed finish typical of English EPNS production with the maker's mark clearly impressed.
