A circular electroplated photo frame in the plain Edwardian manner, with a wide rolled molding, convex dome glass, and an oval aperture sized for a portrait photograph. The form was at its most popular between roughly 1900 and 1915, when the dressing table portrait frame was a standard of English domestic life and a conventional gift for engagements and weddings. This example has no engraving or applied ornament, which is characteristic of the cleaner Edwardian taste that had moved away from the busier surface decoration of the late Victorian decades. The original turned oak back and classic two-leg easel stand are intact and functional.
