Vintage Camel Saddle Stool *AS-IS*

This piece shows heavy, honest wear consistent with its age and original use. The most important thing to know is that the seat cushion is failing along its seams: the leather has split and opened around much of the piped edge, and the natural straw and fiber stuffing is actively falling out. This is not a minor edge split. The fill is exposed and loose along both lobes of the seat and around the sides, and material will continue to shed with handling. Anyone buying this should expect to have the cushion restuffed and restitched, or to accept it as is with the filler coming loose.

The hand tooled leather seat has darkened to a deep reddish brown with age. The top surface carries scattered abrasion, scuffing, and a few dark ink or stain marks, most visibly a curved dark mark near one lobe. The embossed decorative scenes remain legible across the top but are softened and rubbed from handling. The leather is dry overall, with craquelure and light cracking across the raised areas and some stiffness to the hide. The red leather welt trim shows wear and darkening throughout.

The wooden frame is solid and stable, with warm color and the expected knocks and surface marks. The brass leg medallions and foot caps have oxidized to a dull, mottled patina with green verdigris in the recesses, and the decorative brass studs are intact around the legs. The two turned brass finials at the top of the frame remain in place. The leather lacing and cord ties securing the seat to the frame are worn, with some fraying and later replacement cord visible at the joints.
