Black Sculptural Candelabra
Black Sculptural Candelabra
Couldn't load pickup availability
Vintage sculptural branch-form candelabra with eight cups, built on a wrapped-wire armature that twists across the table like a bare limb. The whole piece is hand-wrapped, coil over coil, with the cups perched where buds would sit, finished in a matte gritty black that reads more like stone than metal. At nineteen inches wide it has real presence, and the handmade wrapping gives it a raw, organic quality you don't get from a cast piece.
This piece is in good vintage condition with an original matte black surface throughout. The finish is intentionally gritty and uneven, part of how the piece was made, not wear. The whole form is built by hand, a metal armature wrapped tightly in coiled wire, and in a few spots the wrapping has loosened slightly at the ends where it terminates, which you can see in the photographs. This is minor and consistent with a hand-wrapped piece of this age. There are no marks, no maker's stamp, and no structural damage that I can see. The cups show light dust and surface handling consistent with age and display. The piece is stable and sits flat with the branches resting on the surface.
