A two compartment tea caddy veneered on every outside surface in a basket weave pattern, built up from hundreds of small blocks of light and dark wood with fine pale stringing running between them. The pattern continues unbroken across the lid, the front, both ends, and around the rounded corners, which is difficult to do without the lines stepping out of place. Inside, two wood covers close over the tea wells.
The caddy is structurally sound and the lid opens and closes on its brass hinges. The parquetry survives across the whole exterior with two losses to note, both at the top corners of the lid, where small sections of banding are gone and pale substrate shows through. There is further chipping and veneer loss immediately around the keyhole. The lock is in place but no key is included, so the lock has not been tested. Scattered light scratches and a few small dark marks run across the front and the lid, consistent with long use.
Inside, the left compartment cover retains its small turned knob. The right cover is missing its knob and a small hole remains at the center where it was fitted. A second small hole is present in the black rim at the front of the box interior, from a lost fitting. Both compartments show staining, darkening, and remnants of old lining, and the black paint along the divider edges is worn through in places. The pale panels lining the lid interior show spotting and staining. No foil or metal lining remains in either compartment, and there is no sign that either ever had it.
The paper covering the underside is heavily worn with large losses across the center, exposing bare wood. The wood beneath is sound. The surface has not been stripped or refinished, and what is present is the original finish with age.

All antique and vintage items are shipped from our warehouse in Bluffdale, Utah. Each piece is carefully packed by hand using archival materials and custom crating when necessary.
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the size and weight of the item. Local pickup is available at the AMD Warehouse.
All sales of antique and vintage items are final due to their unique, one-of-a-kind nature. Illuminé candles and The Collector's Guide may be returned within 14 days of delivery if unopened and in original condition.
If your piece arrives damaged, please photograph the damage immediately (including packaging), contact us within 48 hours at austynmariedesign@gmail.com, and do not discard any packaging.
