This Georgian rosewood tea caddy, sourced from England and dating to the early 19th century, is a striking example of the craftsmanship and elegance associated with the Regency period. During this time, tea was considered a luxury commodity, and tea caddies were designed not only for practical storage but also as a reflection of wealth and sophistication. Made from highly figured rosewood veneer, this piece showcases the deep, rich grain patterns characteristic of fine exotic hardwoods imported during Britain’s expansion in global trade. The caddy is further enhanced by intricate brass mounts, featuring Gothic-inspired motifs, a design influence that became popular in the late Georgian and early Victorian eras.

The domed lid opens to reveal an interior designed for proper tea storage and preparation, with two lidded compartments originally intended for keeping black and green tea separate, as was customary at the time.
