A Victorian English miniature chest of drawers in solid mahogany, two short drawers over two long, raised on a molded plinth base. Small chests like this were made as cabinet-maker's samples, as collector's pieces for jewelry and trinkets, and occasionally as apprentice work demonstrating joinery at reduced scale. The mahogany has aged to a deep reddish brown with strong figure across the top and drawer fronts. All four original turned mahogany knobs are present, and all four drawers slide and function.
The chest is in good antique condition overall, with honest wear consistent with age and use. The exterior mahogany case retains its original finish, now aged to a rich reddish brown. The top surface shows light surface scratching and crazing throughout, with a small area of yellowish residue or old wax near the front edge. The molded top edge and sides show scattered minor nicks and abrasions. The front left corner of the plinth base molding has a chip with some wood loss at the corner point.
All four drawers are present, slide, and function. The drawer fronts and visible exterior surfaces are in good condition. The interior of the middle drawer (first long drawer) shows significant damage to the drawer bottom, with a red-painted or coated surface that is heavily cracked and peeling across much of the interior floor. The bottom drawer interior is in better condition. The two short top drawers are unlined and show normal age wear to the raw wood.
The back of the case is the most worn surface. A paper or fabric covering on the back has deteriorated extensively, with large areas lifted, cracked, and missing, exposing the bare pine beneath. This is not visible from the front or sides and does not affect structure or function. The case overall is solid and the joints are tight.

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the size and weight of the item. Local pickup is available at the AMD Warehouse.
All sales of antique and vintage items are final due to their unique, one-of-a-kind nature. Illuminé candles and The Collector's Guide may be returned within 14 days of delivery if unopened and in original condition.
