A late Victorian English miniature collector's cabinet in mahogany with quarter-sawn oak door panels, fitted with twin paneled doors that open to reveal four graduated drawers with turned wooden knobs. Pieces like this were made as apprentice work, traveler's samples, and small-scale specimen cabinets for the Victorian collector. The drawer interiors retain a partial maker's or retailer's stamp, faded but still legible enough to read "Harbour" with a London address beginning "45 Tu..." beneath, adding a layer of history that's rare to find intact on a piece this small.

Condition

The cabinet is in good antique condition with honest wear consistent with age and use. The mahogany case retains its rich color and figure throughout, and the quarter-sawn oak door panels show strong medullary ray flecking. All four drawers slide and function. The original turned wooden knobs are all present and intact. The brass butt hinges are original and operate properly. The escutcheon plate on the right door is original, though no key accompanies the piece and the lock is not currently functional. The drawer interiors retain a partial maker's or retailer's stamp that has faded with age, leaving the name "Harbour" and a street number "45" with a partial street name beginning "Tu..." still legible while the remainder is no longer readable. The back is original planked board construction and shows expected age splits and shrinkage gaps between the boards, which do not affect stability. Light surface wear throughout consistent with over a century of handling.
