Smaller sized mirror that is perfect for styling or as a space saving vanity mirror!
This 19th-century Chinese export table mirror, crafted from ebonized hardwood with intricate mother-of-pearl inlay. This piece was likely made for the European market during the late Qing Dynasty, showcasing the refined artistry typical of high-quality export furniture. The mirror features a beveled glass pane set within a rotating frame, allowing for adjustable positioning, and is supported by finely turned spindles. The frame is decorated with delicate floral inlay work, with carved embellishments at the crest depicting stylized creatures—possibly qilin or guardian lions—adding an element of mythological symbolism. The base features openwork carvings, enhancing its overall elegance. The reverse side of the mirror retains its original wooden panel, which bears aged markings, likely workshop notations or an inventory record from its time of manufacture.
Condition:
Some wear consistent with age, including minor losses to the ebonized finish and a slight patina to the mirror’s surface. The mother-of-pearl inlay is largely intact with only minimal wear. The frame remains sturdy, but one of the legs has damage to the back foot and the mirror swivels properly. Back panel shows signs of age with period-appropriate markings. A well-preserved example of fine 19th-century craftsmanship
