This James Keiller & Son marmalade pot for its clean graphics and honest kitchen wear. The transfer-printed wreath, the "ESTP 1797" cartouche, and the Dundee Orange Marmalade lettering all read crisp and dark against the pale glazed body. Keiller sold their Seville orange marmalade in pots like this one for generations, and the empty jar has become a favorite for holding kitchen utensils, brushes, or blooms. The allover crazing and interior staining are exactly what you want to see on a pot that actually lived in a pantry.

Condition

The pot is in good antique condition with honest wear consistent with age and use. The glaze shows allover fine crazing across the entire body, which is normal for this type and not damage. There is soft brown staining on the interior floor and a faint stain on the exterior of the reverse side, both consistent with long kitchen use. The transfer-printed label is strong and fully legible with only light surface wear. The rim is sound with no chips noted. The recessed base is unglazed and shows light dust and age soiling. No lid is present, which is typical, as these pots were sold with paper or parchment covers. No cracks and no restoration.
