A cast bronze figural scissor holder, the dog modeled as a heavy-jowled hound with open mouth sized to hold and present a pair of small embroidery scissors. The form is the conceit: the dog sits ready on your worktable, scissors always at hand. Pieces like this were produced by Austrian, English, and French workshops in the decades around 1900, made for the well-appointed sewing table or dressing room. No maker's mark, which is typical for the category. The scissors appear original to the piece based on consistent patina and fit.
The bronze retains its original cold-painted surface in dark brown with warm red-brown undertones showing through. Paint loss is significant and distributed across the body, consistent with age and handling rather than damage. The casting is sound with no cracks or repairs visible. The collar detail and facial modeling remain legible despite surface wear. The scissors show consistent oxidation with the dog and fit the mouth naturally. Overall honest antique condition, unrestored.

All antique and vintage items are shipped from our warehouse in Bluffdale, Utah. Each piece is carefully packed by hand using archival materials and custom crating when necessary.
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the size and weight of the item. Local pickup is available at the AMD Warehouse.
All sales of antique and vintage items are final due to their unique, one-of-a-kind nature. Illuminé candles and The Collector's Guide may be returned within 14 days of delivery if unopened and in original condition.
