A solid mid-century beekeeping reference from one of the most influential names in American apiculture. This 1948 printing of The ABC and XYZ of Bee Culture was published by The A. I. Root Company in Medina, Ohio, and reflects decades of practical knowledge gathered and revised by the Root family.
First developed by Amos Ives Root, this work grew from a simple beginner’s guide into a substantial alphabetical encyclopedia covering hive management, honey production, queen rearing, equipment, bee diseases, and much more. It was designed to be useful in real working conditions, and it remains appealing today to collectors of agricultural books, homesteading material, and the history of beekeeping.
This copy is bound in black pebbled cloth with gilt lettering and a decorative bee-themed design to the front cover. A handsome and useful volume for anyone interested in bees, rural life, or practical American reference books.
The black pebbled boards show minor scuffing at the edges, with the gilt titles remaining bright and legible. The hinges are firm and the binding is structurally sound.
