Louisa May Alcott's An Old-Fashioned Girl, first published in 1869, was later reissued in 1926 by Little, Brown, and Company. This edition features illustrations by Elenore Abbott, whose artistry complements Alcott's storytelling with vivid, emotive visuals. The book explores the life of Polly Milton, a kind-hearted and unpretentious country girl who visits her wealthy friend, Fanny Shaw, in the city. Polly is initially overwhelmed by the Shaw family's opulent lifestyle, but her steadfast values and genuine personality ultimately influence the Shaws, particularly Fanny and her brother, Tom, encouraging them to reassess their priorities.

Good condition overall. A strip of cloth is missing from the top of the spine, noted in the photographs. The remainder of the binding is sound. Internally the pages and illustrations are in good shape. A solid copy at an honest price reflecting the spine wear.
