7" H x 2" diameter - base

This intimate gilt bronze figure captures the polite flourish of a period gentleman officer with hat raised in salute and a slender sword at his side, mounted on a solid black marble socle that gives the piece quiet architectural presence. The warm gilt finish still reads bright in photography while the small scale, just under 6 inches tall, makes this a perfect mantel or desk accent for collectors and decorators alike who want a touch of historic character without overwhelming a modern room. The combination of gilt bronze and veined marble creates a refined material contrast that photographs especially well for online presentation and that pairs beautifully with oak, leather and mid century accents. Comparable unsigned gilt bronze officer figures with marble bases commonly sell in the low hundreds, making this a tasteful investment for a styling piece or a focused small collection.

Condition:

Overall very good vintage condition with character consistent with gentle display over many decades. The gilt finish is even and bright across the figure with light rubbing to high points including the hat brim, cuff edges and sword hilt where the gilding has softly mellowed to a subtle patina. The bronze is solidly mounted to the marble base and there is no looseness at the join. The black marble base is intact with no chips or structural cracks; close examination of your photos shows two faint hairline surface lines on the back rim and very minor scuffing around the underside edge consistent with normal handling and placement. There is no visible repair or restoration and no significant corrosion.
