This antique Victorian to early Edwardian cruet set dates to around 1880 to 1910 and reflects the height of English dining culture. The revolving silver plated stand features an elegant pierced gallery, a tall decorative handle, and four fitted openings for the original cut glass bottles. These sets were designed to sit at the center of a formal dining table, holding oil, vinegar, mustard, salt, and other condiments in a way that was both practical and refined.
Each bottle displays classic Victorian cutting with diamond and oval motifs. Two bottles retain their faceted crystal stoppers, one bottle has its hinged silver plated mustard lid, and one contains a pierced shaker top. The set embodies the era’s fascination with symmetry, ornament, and polished presentation, and it remains a charming glimpse into a time when table settings were ceremonial.
Today, cruet sets are loved for their decorative presence and versatility. Condition:
The set is in good antique condition with age related wear. The silver plated stand has small dents, minor bends to the pierced gallery, and the handle leans slightly to the right. The mustard spoon is missing. The bottles show mild haze and light internal residue from age. The silver plated lids show light wear but function well. No major cracks or chips were observed. The revolving mechanism is intact and turns smoothly. Wear is consistent with over one hundred years of age.
