A beautifully atmospheric antique landscape painted in 1849, depicting Chepstow Castle in Monmouthshire, Wales. This piece captures everything collectors love about mid 19th century British scenery: a romantic ruin softened by trees and ivy, a winding path, and two cows in the foreground that give the scene a quiet, pastoral narrative.

The reverse is inscribed “Chepstow Castle Monmouthshire” and signed W. Pitt 1849, and it retains an original Winsor & Newton prepared mill-board label. That detail is more than just charming ephemera. It is a strong period material clue that places the work firmly in the Victorian era and ties it to one of London’s most respected artist colourmen.
