A charming antique copper match holder formed as a gentleman’s top hat, sourced in England and dated to the late Victorian era, circa 1890. These novelty forms were popular tabletop accessories for keeping matches close at hand for lighting candles, oil lamps, and the hearth, and they were often displayed on a mantel or smoking table as a conversation piece.
This example has a warm copper glow with natural age patina and subtle verdigris in a few areas. The wide brim and sculptural hat silhouette make it an easy styling piece for a library vignette, bar cart, or beside a favorite candle.
