This vintage French picture frame, dating to the mid-20th century (c.1930–1950), is a beautifully ornate brass casting with pierced openwork scroll and lattice motifs. The oval opening (4.75" H x 3.5" W) makes it perfect for displaying cabinet-sized portraits, small photographs, or even decorative inserts such as pressed flowers. Measuring 6" high by 4.75" wide overall, the frame carries the stamped mark “Mod. Dep.” on the back, short for “Modèle Déposé,” meaning Registered Design, a hallmark commonly used in France during this period. With its warm patina, intricate detailing, and timeless style, this frame makes a charming addition to any décor or collection.
Condition:
The frame is in good vintage condition, showing natural age wear and oxidation consistent with its mid-century age. The front retains its intricate detailing with rich patina, while the back shows surface wear and minor loss at one corner. Marked “Mod. Dep.” on the reverse.
Please note: frame only - glass and backing insert not included.
