Fowler himself became one of the most prolific Victorian ecclesiastical architects in England, designing or restoring over two hundred buildings in his career. The print passed through the collection of Colin Carr (1929-2002), a Lincolnshire watercolor painter whose work focused on the Grimsby and Louth area, and was given as a Christmas 1980 gift to his wife Olive, with a handwritten inscription on the verso.
