This late Victorian to early Edwardian English horn beaker dates to around 1880 to 1910 and features a warm honey to chestnut gradient that is completely unique to the natural horn. It is finished with silver plated mounts along the rim and foot and includes a small blank shield cartouche on the front where the original owner could have added initials or a crest. These horn cups were commonly used in English country houses, sporting lodges, and gentlemen’s clubs and were valued for their durability and elegant use of natural materials. The taller form suggests it was made as a drinking beaker rather than a shaving mug, and it displays beautifully with barware, club room decor, and classic English interiors. Pieces like this have become increasingly collectible due to their connection to British sporting culture and the warm character they bring to a space.
Condition:
The horn surface shows natural variation and light age related wear that is typical for the material. The silver plated mounts show minor scratches and small marks from use. There is a slight irregularity to the rim, which is common in antique horn due to natural shaping. The piece remains sturdy and displays well with no structural concerns.
