The original cold-painted polychrome details in the diamond cartouche and the base rosette have worn down to faint traces of blue-green color in the deeper recesses, consistent with use. The brass shows scattered small dents, light surface scratches, and a few areas of darker oxidation, none of which compromise the form. The cast iron weight insert is intact and seated in the base. The bolted joints are tight and the piece stands square and stable. The registered design number to the iron flange is visible but only partially legible due to surface corrosion and the recess of the stamping.
