Visible under close inspection are scattered light-colored specks across the surface and a few small raised accretions, most noticeable in the upper background, along with surface grime consistent with age. These are visual observations from the photographs and my in-hand look, and I recommend confirming the surface in person. The canvas is stable on its stretcher with a keyed, mortise-and-tenon construction visible from the reverse. The reverse is uniformly darkened with age.
