Imported from the UK, from my most recent buying trip
A refined English oak and silver-plated twin tea caddy dating from the late Victorian to early Edwardian period, circa 1895 to 1910. The solid quarter-sawn oak body showcases a striking tiger-grain pattern, accented with hand-engraved silver-plated mounts featuring birds and floral motifs. This combination of natural wood and engraved silver captures that transitional design moment where late Victorian ornament met early Edwardian restraint.
The hinged lid opens to reveal twin tea compartments with their original tinned linings and sliding oak covers. Resting on silver-plated ball feet and fitted with side ring handles, this piece was both practical and decorative—a true symbol of refinement in the English home.
