The fitted interior is the reason to look closely. A central drawer with pierced brass rococo-revival handle sits between open compartments, with a small hinged drop-front section above and a pair of original pipe rack mounting brackets to the right compartment, where pipes would have hung from the upper bracket and rested in the lower one. The pipes are long gone but the original mounts are intact. The left door retains its working lock with original key. The right door lock has been removed, so the cabinet no longer latches closed on its own.

[d]Type | Smoker's Cabinet

[d]Material | Quartersawn oak with figured oak veneer interior

[d]Hardware | Nickel-plated "Secure Lever" escutcheons and thumb-turn door pulls, cast brass interior drawer handle

[d]Origin | England

[d]Age | Circa 1900 to 1915

[d]Style | Late Victorian to Edwardian

[d]Size | 12 in W x 9.5 in D x 12.75 in H

[d]Interior | Top cubby 4 in H x 5.375 in W, drawer 4.5 in H x 4.75 in W, lower open section 2.75 in H x 10.75 in W x 7.25 in D, pipe rack compartment 8 in H x 5 in W x 7.25 in D

[d]Key | Original key present, left door lock functions

[condition]

Good antique condition with honest wear consistent with age. The right door lock has been removed at some point, leaving an empty mortise in the door's inner edge. The shield-form escutcheon remains in place as a decorative element.
